A2 German Course in Nepal
A2 is the second CEFR level. At A2 you can handle routine, everyday exchanges — shopping, appointments, directions, work and family — and describe your background and immediate surroundings in simple terms.
A2 is where German starts to feel usable. You stop translating word by word and begin forming sentences directly. It is also where the past tense arrives, which is the single biggest jump between A1 and B1 — and the point at which learners who rushed A1 usually stall.

What you can do after A2
These are the A2 outcomes described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Communicate in simple, routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information
- Describe your background, education, immediate environment and daily life
- Understand frequently used expressions about family, shopping, local geography and employment
- Read short, simple texts and find specific information in everyday material
- Write short notes, messages and simple personal letters or emails
- Talk about past events using the perfect tense
A2 syllabus
Past tense
The Perfekt with haben and sein, regular and irregular participles, and the Präteritum of sein, haben and the modal verbs.
The dative case
Dative articles and pronouns, dative verbs, and the two-way prepositions that take either accusative or dative.
Adjectives and comparison
Adjective endings after definite and indefinite articles, and comparative and superlative forms.
Connected sentences
Subordinating conjunctions — weil, dass, wenn, ob — and the word order they force.
Reflexive and separable verbs
Reflexive pronouns, common reflexive verbs, and separable verbs across tenses.
Everyday situations
Doctor's appointments, renting, public transport, workplace conversations, invitations and complaints.
Writing practice
Short emails, messages and forms of the kind that appear in A2 examinations.
Who this level is for
- Learners who have completed A1 and can form basic present-tense sentences
- Students working toward B1 for Ausbildung or study in Germany
- Anyone who learned some German informally and needs to fill structural gaps
What A2 lets you apply for
A2 is a required step toward B1, and some German employers and vocational programmes treat A2 as a minimum screening level. For an Ausbildung or student visa you will still need B1. Confirm the requirement for your specific programme before planning around A2.

A2 German: frequently asked questions
How long is the A2 German course?
Two months, with 1.5 hours of class per day, six days a week. A2 covers more ground than A1, which is why both the course length and the daily class time increase.
How much does A2 German cost in Nepal?
Our A2 course fee is रु 6000 for the full course, including live classes, session recordings, study materials and a certificate of completion.
Can I join A2 directly without doing A1?
Only if you already have A1-level German. Take our free A1 level test first. If you score well you can join A2 directly; if not, starting at A1 will save you time rather than cost it.
Is A2 enough for Ausbildung in Germany?
Generally no. Ausbildung applications from Nepal normally require a B1 certificate from a recognised provider such as the Goethe-Institut, ÖSD or telc, and some employers — particularly in nursing and customer-facing roles — prefer B2. Check the requirement with the specific employer and the German mission.
What is the hardest part of A2?
For most Nepali learners it is the dative case and the word order forced by subordinating conjunctions such as weil and dass. Both are drilled repeatedly in this course because they are the foundation of B1.
